Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah has come under fire from Madam Nyonkopah Daniels, executive director of Peace Watch Ghana, over remarks he made regarding Dr. Akuffo Dampare, the inspector general of police.
She asserted that the man of God has no right to threaten the IGP and that he should back off in order for him to carry out his duties.
On social media, there is a recording of a man of God threatening the IGP in relation to the most recent arrest.
The tape included remarks directed towards the IGP that were ascribed to Rev. Bempah.
“Tell the IGP that I will make him regret taking the position if he does not take precautions. Inform him that he would become tired of this nation if he toys with me. In Ghana, I will treat him brutally if he doesn’t take care. Tell him [IGP] that without my help, President Akufo-Addo would not have won. Inform the IGP that Akufo-Addo’s presidential campaign has resulted in several persons losing their legs. Tell him that Akufo-Addo is to responsible for certain fatalities.
Ask him whether he knows about my friendship with Akufo-Addo. Ask him where he was when Maame Busia and Mrs. Akufo-Addo kept coming to see me. He should have asked Captain Smart what I did before to President Akufo-Addo taking office. Does he know what was given up before Akufo-Addo won the presidency? Akufo-Addo was the cause of it. Dead was Gladys Asmah. Maame Ama Busia had to have her leg amputated as a result of Akufo-Addo. If he [the IGP] wants me to divulge information, I will. He shouldn’t try to play games with me because I’ll punish him severely.
In response to the remarks, Madam Daniels stated that a man of God should respect himself and conduct himself in a manner befitting a man of God, much like Dag Heward Mills and Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams.
She said, “These comments were unfortunate,” when appearing on Rainbow Radio 87.5 Fm’s Frontline. I find it repulsive and am curious as to why a’man of God’ would threaten the IGP. How dare you tell the IGP that he regrets becoming IGP because of you. Pay attention to your duty as a man who fears God. Social media audio is upsetting, irreverent, and of poor quality. Are you brave enough to dangle a threat before the military chief? Because no one is above the law, we must exercise caution.
The law does not apply to President Akufo-Addo; how much of a man of God are you? What does it matter if you were the one who chose him as President? Are you the All-Powerful? Respect for one another is a requirement. The people would not accept threats against the IGP since he is a devoted family man.
Since the man of God is disparaging the Christian community, she requested that the Christian Council summon the guy to order.
He declared, “You [Bempah] broke the law and were detained.” You are not above the law. You entered Agradaa’s home and intimidated her. You are threatening the IGP after being detained.
