The Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) has been at the centre of public discourse lately, with allegations of poor health care delivery making headlines in the media. In response to these allegations, a delegation of Chiefs from the Gulkpegu Traditional Area in Tamale met with TTH Management to learn about the challenges facing the hospital.

During the meeting, TTH Management highlighted some of the challenges facing the hospital, including persistent attacks and insults on health workers, delayed disbursement of health insurance claims, and broken-down equipment. However, they also stressed that they have taken steps to address these challenges and ensure quality health care delivery for patients.

TTH’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr Adam Atiku, urged members of the public to make use of the hospital’s complaints unit to address any issue regarding service delivery at the facility. He also highlighted the measures that have been taken to improve health care delivery at the hospital, including fixing broken-down equipment and creating new units.

The Gulkpegu Chiefs who led the delegation praised TTH Management for their efforts to improve health care delivery at the hospital. They expressed their support for the hospital and promised to issue a communique on the challenges at the hospital and the need for duty-bearers to address them.

For the most part, the meeting between the Gulkpegu Chiefs and TTH Management was productive, as both parties were able to discuss the challenges facing the hospital and the steps being taken to address them. It is hoped that this meeting will lead to a better understanding of the issues facing the hospital and a renewed commitment to improving health care delivery for patients. As stakeholders in the health sector, it is important for everyone to work together to ensure that our health care system is responsive to the needs of the people.
