Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has issued an apology to Ghanaians who were affected by the recent intermittent power supply in the country. The head of Corporate Communications at GRIDCo, Dzifa Bampoh, disclosed that the situation was as a result of a generational challenge beyond the company’s control.

GRIDCo is responsible for transmitting electricity across the country, but it does not generate power. However, the company monitors the generation of power from hydro, thermal, and solar plants to ensure that they meet the demands of Ghanaians.

Bampoh explained that there had been a shortfall in the generation capacity due to a lack of adequate gas supply to power the plants. This led to the intermittent power supply that Ghanaians experienced in recent times.

For the most part, the intermittent power supply was not a result of load-shedding, but a reduction in supply to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) due to low gas supply on some occasions. Bampoh added that GRIDCo was working to restore a stable power supply to the country.

The apology from GRIDCo comes after several Ghanaians took to social media to express their frustrations with the power cuts. The recent power cuts have affected businesses and households, with some businesses having to rely on generators to keep their operations running.

In a nutshell, the apology from GRIDCo shows that the company is aware of the inconvenience that Ghanaians have experienced due to the intermittent power supply. The company has assured Ghanaians that it is working to address the generational challenges that have led to the shortfall in power supply. Ghanaians are hopeful that the power supply will become stable soon to avoid any further inconvenience.
