Governs Kwame Agbodza, the current Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu, is tipped to win the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries in the constituency. Agbodza, who is also the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, is seeking a third term as MP and faces competition from three other candidates, including Raymond Akpatsa, a 49-year-old lawyer, Madam Rebecca Agbogah, and first-time candidate Michael Agede.

For the most part, Agbodza is considered the frontrunner and has the support of traditional authorities, constituency and polling station executives due to his tireless efforts in bringing development to the constituency. Despite challenges from his opponents, a polling station executive from Adaklu Waya anonymously noted that some are rooting for Akpatsa due to his origin in the Todzienu area of the constituency, as both Agbodza and the District Chief Executive hail from the Tonu area.

However, Christopher Galenkui, Adaklu Constituency Communication Officer of the NDC, downplayed the importance of location and emphasized the need for a candidate who has the area at heart and can transform it. He noted that “Adaklu needs somebody who has the magic wand to transform it,” suggesting that Agbodza is that candidate.

Despite the opinions of some polling station executives, Galenkui is confident that Agbodza will secure victory in the upcoming primaries and retain his seat in the 2024 elections. While there may be some level of competition, it appears that Agbodza’s track record and commitment to the constituency make him the most popular choice among NDC voters in Adaklu.

In conclusion, the Adaklu NDC primaries are expected to be hotly contested, but Governs Kwame Agbodza’s strong support base and previous achievements make him the favored candidate to win. Despite some concerns about regional origins, it appears that voters in Adaklu are more concerned with a candidate who can bring meaningful development to the area.
