The Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has prohibited inviting visiting preachers or revivalists for a year.
The restriction will be in place starting in January 2024 for a full calendar year.
The Synod Clerk, Rev. Dr. Yohanes Ahiabu, released the instruction today (Aug. 27), giving pastors the ability to purposefully nurture leaders in their individual congregations.
Invitations to weddings, funerals, and Head Office or Presbytery Executive Committee programs were not covered by the mandate, he claimed.
It is one of a number of resolutions that were approved by the Church during the GEC’s four-day Synod’s closing ceremony under the theme, “Be holy in all you do.”
The English/French language only congregations of the Church will henceforth be recognized and designated as Global Evangelical Worship Centre (GEWC), followed by their location designations, the Synod Clerk said.
Rev. Dr. Ahiabu added that the Synod Committee had been tasked with creating standardized Catechism materials for use by all congregations in order to maintain uniformity in the admission and upbringing of church members.
βThe Synod mandates the Synod committee executive to kick start the constitutional amendment process in relation to the election of Presbytery Chairmen, the General Assembly concept and any other relevant issues,β the Synod Clerk added in his remarks at the closing ceremony.
