Gifty Anti, a well-known broadcaster, will attend this year’s Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF), which begins on Thursday, August 10, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
The Ghana Association of Writers (GAW) is a partner in the four-day event, which marks the fair’s 20th edition. It also falls on the Accra World Book Capital commemoration weekend.
Yvonne Nelson, Asamoah Gyan, Adjetey Anang, and other celebrities who will be joining Gifty Anti as writers will meet with attendees throughout the event.
Deep Conversations with Oheneyere Gifty Anti, a session by Gifty Anti, will take place at 4:00 pm on the opening day of the conference, Thursday, August 10.
Her novels, “When Strong Women Cry” and “The Black Chale Wote-Diary of the late Bloomer and her Daughter,” which discuss her struggles with infertility and becoming a mother at an advanced age, will be the topics of discussion.
On Saturday, August 12 from 10:00 am to noon, Yvonne Nelson will sign books. From 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Asamoah Gyan will participate in a Celebrity-Author & Readers Connect event.
The Ghana International Book Fair Personality of the Year 2023 show, which will take place on Friday, August 11, in the evening before Saturday’s events, will honor and recognize HE Mr. Abdourahamanne Diallo, the Country Representative of UNESCO Ghana, for his outstanding support of the promotion of artistic, cultural, and literary works in Ghana.
On Sunday, August 13, 2023, renowned actor Adjetey Anang will conclude the Book Fair with a presentation titled, Celebrity-Author & Readers. Talk to Adjetey Anang.
GIBF is a yearly celebration of books that highlight the vibrant culture of Ghana.
The major objective is to bring together all actors in the Ghanaian and global book industries to showcase books, creativity, and innovations; to explore commercial prospects; to plan literacy initiatives for students; and to organize seminars for the book industry to improve the publication of high-quality books.
Other events to commemorate the Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF) this year’s theme, Reading to connect minds for social transformation, include “Reading with Champions,” which will feature comedian Clemento Suarez, former Ghana Most Beautiful queen Naa Dedei Botchwey, Kate Addo, Director of Public Affairs of the Parliament of Ghana among others.
