Ghana dominates Day One of the IHF Africa Zone 3 Trophy Competition

On Day One of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Africa Zone Three Trophy competition at the Tennis Court of the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana’s Under-17 and Under-19 Female teams triumphed.

The young women showed their admirers that they were prepared for the competition by working hard and being determined.

Ghana defeated Benin with 36-22 goals in the women’s U-17 division, while Nigeria overcame Liberia with 61-16 goals to win their opening match.

Team Ghana defeated Liberia 72-5 in the women’s U-19 division, and team Cote D’Ivoire defeated Benin 38-20 to win their inaugural match.

The best player for the U-17 team was chosen as Rabiyatu Mohammed, and the best player for the U-19 team was chosen as Naomi Okine.

Ms. Mohammed expressed her happiness at their ability to win their first match of the league in an interview with GNA Sports.

I thank Allah that we were able to win our first game, and I pray that we will continue to do so in the future, she remarked.

“For me, winning best player belongs to the team since I couldn’t have done it without them.

“I want to thank all the players for their help and the effort we put forth on the pitch,” said the coach.

Ms. Okine also shared her happiness about their first triumph in the opening round.

Yes, we are hosting, and as the host nation, we need to win to honour our nation. This is just the beginning, and our supporters should look forward to seeing more from us soon.
