President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated Ghana’s commitment to building strong state-to-state relations based on mutual respect and benefits to advance the cause of humanity. Speaking during a meeting with the Latvian Foreign Minister, Edgars Rinkēvičs, at the Jubilee House, the president emphasized that the world today requires zealous relations that provide the strongest foundation for state-to-state encounters and state-to-state developments.

Ghana and Latvia have enjoyed a collaborative partnership over the years in various sectors including education, security, trade, and health infrastructure and technology, especially in radiology and pharmaceuticals. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed emerging issues on the global political scene and the need for smaller countries to work together to ensure that great powers of the world refrain from certain activities.

President Akufo-Addo welcomed the Latvian Foreign Minister and his business delegation to Ghana and expressed hope that the time spent would be fruitful in advancing the commercial as well as political relations between the two countries. On his part, the Latvian Foreign Minister praised Ghana’s experience at the Security Council of the United Nations, which presents a perfect blueprint for Latvia to emulate in its candidacy to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026-2027 term.

The establishment of bonds of cooperation remains a strong basis for building bilateral, state-to-state economic and political ties, particularly between smaller nations. Ghana believes in the multilateral system of firm adherence to the rule of law, both domestically and within the global system of governance. The meeting between the two leaders highlights the need for countries to work together and collaborate for the benefit of humanity.
