The fight against galamsey in Ghana has been a major concern for years. However, recent revelations by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and Prof. Frimpong-Boateng have shed light on the rot at the Jubilee House and the involvement of some senior staff in the galamsey activities.

In his report submitted two years ago, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng mentioned the names of some top officials, including Gabby Otchere Darko, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and Seth Mantey, among others, who are allegedly involved in galamsey activities. The report also revealed that the Jubilee House has become a crime scene due to the criminal enterprise going on there.

Despite forwarding the report to the police, President Nana Addo has failed to take decisive action against the alleged perpetrators. This has raised questions about his commitment to the fight against galamsey and his sincerity in putting his presidency on the line to stop it.

It is disheartening that these criminals are still allowed to go in and out of the Jubilee House while under investigation. This is a clear indication of the weakness of the President in tackling the issue of galamsey.

For the most part, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng is fighting against the whole galamsey machinery at the Jubilee House, and until this criminal enterprise is properly investigated and the culprits brought to book, the fight against galamsey cannot be won.

The action taken by Gabby Otchere Darko in suing Prof. Frimpong-Boateng for GHC10 million is a clear indication of his willingness to distract from the issue at hand. The former Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, described him as a nuisance and a distraction, which confirms her statement.

In conclusion, the fight against galamsey requires a new committed President and political party to fix the rot and jail all the criminals involved. It is time for Ghanaians to make a conscious decision and vote wisely in the upcoming elections. We must not allow the rot at the Jubilee House to continue to undermine the efforts towards the fight against galamsey.
