According to JoyNews’ James Avedzi, the payment was paid on Monday, March 20, 2023 following a visit by ECG’s revenue mobilisation group to the House.

Prior to that, the taskforce also forced the ECG to accept partial payment from Parliament as repayment for its debt.

Out of the GHC 13 million owed to the electricity distributor, the august house paid GHC 8.5 million in order to prevent disconnecting.

In an effort to recoup nearly GH5 billion in debt owed by both commercial and public entities, the ECG has started a number of actions.

The exercise started on Monday, March 20, 2023, when ECG announced that all of its main offices would be closed for a month, with the exception of the customer service divisions.

The corporation would deploy the whole ECG personnel, from senior management to junior officers, to recover any outstanding debts.

As a result, Mr. Samuel Dubik Mahama, the managing director of ECG, has visited all of the company’s operational areas to educate the personnel on how to approach the mobilization of income.

The consumer should always be respected, according to Mr. Mahama.

Also, he reminded the workers that ECG is a company and not a nonprofit, and that they should all start acting like professionals.

At the conclusion of the exercise, it is anticipated that all of the debt owed to ECG would have been paid.
