Former Ghanaian football star Mohammed Polo has shown the extent of his passion for football development in the country by revealing that he sold his family house to refurbish a pitch for his football academy, Golden Stars.

The pitch, which was formerly known as Legon Park, but now Ajax Park, is now one of the best training pitches in Ghana. The football academy needed a pitch to train on, but the existing ones, including Hearts of Lions Park and Nania Park, were not up to the required standard. This led Polo to sell his family house in Accra to raise funds for the renovation.

For the most part, football development in Ghana has been limited to a few clubs and the national team. Many young talents in the country do not have access to good training facilities, which has hindered their progress in the sport. Polo’s dedication to the development of young talents in Ghana is commendable and serves as an inspiration to others who have the resources to support sports development in the country.

According to Polo, he worked on the Ajax Park from scratch and spent a considerable amount of money to refurbish the pitch. The facility has since been relocated to the Kaneshie Sports Complex, which is closer to town and offers better training opportunities for young players. The Golden Stars Academy has since been using the facility to train and develop young talents in the country.

The sale of his family house for the renovation of the Ajax Park is a clear indication of Polo’s commitment to football development in Ghana. His passion for the sport and his desire to see young talents thrive has led him to make this significant sacrifice. It is a testament to his love for football and his belief that young talents in the country can achieve their dreams with the right support and training.

For the most part, the story of Mohammed Polo’s sacrifice for football development in Ghana is a story that should inspire others to invest in sports development in the country. It shows that with passion, dedication, and commitment, one can make a significant impact in the lives of young talents in Ghana. It is a reminder that sports development is not just about the elite few but about creating opportunities for all to excel in the sport they love
