Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, the former Chief of Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, has warned that Ghana is on a path towards destruction. In an interview with Class FM, he stated that the anger of citizens towards the government might lead to the staging of a coup, although he emphasized that this is not the best way forward.

According to the retired military officer, people only resort to coups when they are pushed to their limits. He bemoaned the state of the economy, saying that things are getting worse in the country. The two main political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were also criticized for being essentially the same.

Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah stressed that coups only lead to the destruction of nations, citing Libya and Iraq as examples. He emphasized that he does not wish for Ghana to go down that path, but if the country does not take care, it might end up going that way.

He expressed his frustration with the current state of affairs in Ghana, saying that the youth must rise up and demand change. He also criticized politicians, saying that they should be ashamed of themselves.

The retired military officer questioned why the youth would queue at the American Embassy looking for visas when Ghana is a beautiful country. He urged Ghanaians to work together to build a better nation.

In a nutshell, Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah’s warning should serve as a wake-up call for Ghanaians. The anger towards the government and the state of the economy is palpable, and if left unaddressed, might lead to dire consequences. It is time for Ghanaians to demand change and work together to build a better nation. Coups only lead to destruction, and Ghana must avoid that path at all costs.
