The police have five people in custody for their participation in the killing of an unnamed man who is thought to be in his mid-30s.
The reason for the crime is now unknown, but the suspects who admitted to perpetrating it on Sunday, July 16, 2023, were apprehended in various places.
The deceased’s lifeless corpse was found in the Greater Accra Region along Pokuase-Ablekuma road with several cutlass wounds, according to police. It was fair in complexion, wearing multicolored boxer shorts and a black T-shirt.
The corpse was recovered 200 meters away, but police detectives also discovered blood traces on the back of a certain home, suggesting that the victim may have been slain there and the body dragged and discarded where it was found.
A resident at the home where blood traces were found claimed to have witnessed one Rastaman and others pursue the body.
He then gave the police the location of the Rastaman, identified as Kwadjo Gakppda, who was later apprehended in an unfinished structure with suspects Isaac Siaw and Amelikpo Emmanuel.
During his interrogation, suspect Kwadjo identified suspect Mahama Abdul Rahim as his sidekick.
The cutlass that was used in the incident was found, and the suspect Mahama Abdul Rahim, who resides in a metal container, was apprehended.
He also identified Samuel Naa Twum as the one who took the cutlass from him and injured the victim, ultimately killing him.
When police detectives went to the area, they found two spent 9mm bullets, a piece of PVC pipe, and a pair of black pants they thought belonged to the dead.
The corpse was taken out of the scene right away and put in the police mortuary for preservation, identification, and an autopsy.
All suspects have been held in custody pending more inquiries and arraignments in court.
