The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has issued a strong caution to the general public, urging them to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to a recruitment scam that has recently emerged. The scam, which operates through various online platforms and social media channels, has targeted unsuspecting job seekers, promising lucrative employment opportunities in exchange for financial compensation.

“We, therefore, advise the general public not to heed to, or pay monies to any individual or group of persons with the view of facilitating recruitment into the Office,” EOCO said in a press statement.

EOCO, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, has initiated an investigation into the fraudulent scheme, aiming to identify and apprehend those responsible. Preliminary findings indicate that the scammers exploit the desperation of job seekers by requesting payment for application forms, processing fees, or interviews, with the false promise of securing employment.

EOCO has urged victims of the scam to come forward and report their experiences promptly, ensuring that accurate information is provided to aid the ongoing investigation. Additionally, the office plans to intensify public awareness campaigns to educate citizens about the risks associated with fraudulent recruitment activities.

In conclusion, EOCO’s cautionary message serves as a timely reminder for the public to exercise caution and remain vigilant during their job search. By staying informed and adopting a skeptical approach towards suspicious recruitment offers, individuals can protect themselves from falling prey to scams and safeguard their hard-earned money.
