The Information Services Department (ISD) of Ghana recently visited Emirates Airlines Ghana to discuss a potential partnership in training government Public Relations Officers (PROs). The delegation was led by the Director of the Public Relations Coordinating Division (PRCD), Mrs Ethel Codjoe Amissah, and included the winners of the 2022 Government PR Awards.
During the meeting, Madam Catherine Mary Wesley, the Country Manager for Emirates Airlines Ghana, expressed her excitement and readiness to partner with the ISD to train government PROs. She also noted that Emirates Airlines would be celebrating its 20th anniversary in Ghana in January 2024 and hoped for continued collaboration with the government in the coming years.
Mrs Amissah, in turn, expressed her gratitude to Emirates Airlines for their support towards capacity building training for government PROs. She presented ideas on how the ISD’s Public Relations Coordinating Division intends to leverage on this partnership and create a lasting relationship with the Emirates brand through the PROs.
For the most part, the visit was to firm up an earlier discussion on areas of collaboration in partnership with Emirates Airlines on PR-related activities to foster growth between both the ISD and Emirates Airlines. The visit was also an opportunity to introduce the winners of the 2022 Government PR Awards to the country manager.
In a nutshell, this partnership between Emirates Airlines and the Ghanaian government will help to boost productivity in the work of government PROs. By leveraging the expertise and experience of Emirates Airlines in public relations, government PROs will be better equipped to communicate effectively with the public and stakeholders. This partnership also demonstrates the commitment of both parties to fostering growth and development in Ghana.
