eLearning Africa 2023: AI and Innovation in African Education

In May 2023, the Abou Diouf Conference Centre in Dakar, Senegal will host eLearning Africa, the top education and technology event on the continent. The event will showcase the latest trends in digital innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) in African education.

According to eLearning Africa Founder and Director, Rebecca Stromeyer, the emphasis on AI and innovation reflects the transformative change currently underway in African education. The continent’s EdTech market is growing rapidly, with companies and political leaders recognizing the potential for sustainable economic growth through technology.

This year’s conference program features workshops and seminars on exploring the potential and ethics of AI in education, empowering teachers with digital innovations, the role of online teachers, and innovations in learner assessment and certification. Additionally, eLearning Africa will showcase startups in Africa’s booming EdTech sector, including Senegalese companies XaleyTech, which teaches coding to children through robotics and computer programming, and repetiteur.sn, which provides middle and high school students with continuous curriculum improvement, assessment, and feedback.

For over 20 years, eLearning Africa has been at the forefront of skills development across the continent. The conference has hosted more than 20,000 participants from over 100 countries and more than 4,000 speakers who have shared their ideas and solutions for empowering African education.

The event will also feature a Ministerial Round Table attended by Ministers of Education and Information Technology from over a dozen African countries on the conference’s opening day. The conference will be accompanied by a major exhibition of products and services, with 71 sponsors, partners, and exhibitors. There will be 18 pre-conference events, 4 plenaries, and 54 conference sessions, providing a platform for more than 200 speakers.

In a nutshell, eLearning Africa 2023 will showcase the innovation, imagination, and flair of African EdTech companies, practitioners, and policymakers. It will provide a platform for sharing solutions and ideas, empowering teachers and learners, and transforming African education through AI and digital innovation.
