DPSM Samuel Adjetey Retires from Port of Tema after 33 Years of Service

The Port of Tema was alive with activity on Friday as stakeholders, current and former Port Security Managers, and Authority workers gathered to bid farewell to Deputy Port Security Manager (DPSM) Samuel Adjetey, who retired after 33 years of service to the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority. The send-off parade was organized in honour of the security veteran, who is widely acknowledged as a dedicated and hardworking servant of the Port.

During his time at the Port Authority, DPSM Adjetey played a crucial role in ensuring compliance with the ISPS Code, earning recognition from his colleagues for his vast knowledge in maritime security and port operations. His dedication and expertise have helped successive Port Security Managers effortlessly filter into the operations of GPHA.

Director of Port, Sandra Opoku, described DPSM Adjetey as a reliable subordinate who made her work easier, saying, “Officer Sammy or Manager Sammy has been that person for most of us.”

In his farewell speech, DPSM Adjetey urged his fellow security officers to be professional, dedicated to the core values of the organization, and loyal to its leaders. “We are all a team fighting for a common goal,” he said.

As DPSM Adjetey retires, the Port Authority and its stakeholders are grateful for his many years of service and his contributions to the safety and security of the Port of Tema.
