Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2020 Vice Presidential Candidate, has warned Ghanaians against selling their votes in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
She implies that they would be selling their conscience for a pittance in exchange for the greater benefit and progress of the country.
“Ghana will soon elect a president for the country so I am encouraging the electorate to vote on merit and not for the money” she advised.
“The Presidential seat is not meant for sale so eschew selling your vote for money since that money cannot change your life, construct the road, or create jobs or get a good education. Take the money and use your conscious in the 2024 general elections. We all remember what happened to the Assin North by-election where voters collected money and voted against the ruling party” Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang reminded.
Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang exercised caution when she donated food items to Ankarful Psychiatric Hospital in the Central Region’s Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency to celebrate Christmas with patients.
Bags of rice, sugar, cosmetics, detergents, fruits, corn, bread, sachets of water, varied beverages, and other products were provided.
Receiving the supplies on behalf of the hospital, Dr. Evezi Quao extended gratitude to Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang, saying the contributions will go a long way toward meeting the requirements of the patients and easing their hardships.
“Even this festive season, we know that a lot of time people with mental illness may be forgotten but the fact that Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang has remembered us today and has brought laudable food items to feed our patients” she said.
She advocated for the refurbishment of hospital structures in order to improve service delivery.
