Students are graded before being sent to Senior High School (SHS), according to Mark Sasu Mensah, the national coordinator for the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
If kids pass their basic subjects, they will be placed in secondary schools, he claims.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Monday, Mr. Mensah stated that students are judged on their performance in four core topics and their two best subjects.
He said that even if a kid has eight A’s, finding a placement will be challenging once they fail the key areas.
He asked parents to make sure their kids performed well in these four essential topics on test day.
Mr. Mensah underlined the importance of the four core topics and warned pupils that poor performance in English and mathematics will prevent them from being placed, even if they receive great results in other subjects.
He referenced instances from the prior year in which several students struggled to get positions because of subpar English and math grades.
Therefore, Mr. Mensah asked parents to support their kids’ academic progress in essential courses, especially English and Mathematics, to guarantee successful placement in schools.
