The Nkwanta South Magistrate court sentenced two goat thieves GH3,800 apiece, with the option of serving six months in jail.
On Monday, Ramson Ntikro, 22, and Stephen Adzabe, a buddy, stood before the court presided over by Evans Joseph Okorokpa.
The prosecution, Detective Inspector Bright Nkansah, informed the court that Stephen and Ramson stole two female goats in the Oti district of Brewaniase.
Clement Bediako and Peter Ofori, the complainants in the case, said they awoke on October 6 to discover the goats stolen.
Fortunately for them, the suspects were observed walking the neighborhood with goats in search of purchasers.
After receiving the tip, Stephen and Ramson traveled to Nkwanta with the goats and sold them for GH550 to a chop bar operator.
They were apprehended after confessing to the crime.
Detective Nksanah urged harsh penalties to act as a deterrence to others.
