The present police administration, according to Inspector General Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is the greatest.
He was responding to COP Alex Mensah’s assertions that he was the worst IGP in the annals of Ghana.
On Tuesday, September 12, the IGP testified before the parliamentary committee looking into the secretly recorded attempt to have him removed from office. He said that if the administration was flawed, COP Mensah was a part of it.
IGP Dampare was deemed unfit to lead the Police Service by COP Alex Mensah when he spoke before the committee.
In response, the IGP told COP Mensah directly that his claim that he was the worst was only a slip of the tongue.
“It’s false, unfounded, and the best if you (Mensah) cannot say any good thing, it is best to keep mute. Honorable chair, I think what my brother wanted to say was I am the best, and he missed it,” to the amusement of everybody in the room.
Dr. Dampare continued by saying that his administration has made significant efforts to make Ghana safer, particularly on our highways.
He insisted that the documents show that COP Mensah’s assertions are not supported by the facts.
