Ghanaian comedian SDK has opened up about coping with the loss of both his parents within a short period of time. SDK, whose real name is Sadik Sulley, lost his father to a debilitating stroke in November 2021 and his mother in January 2023 to a similar fate.

Despite the profound impact of losing both parents, SDK has prioritized his own happiness and mental health in coping with the grief. In a recent interview, the comedian revealed how he tries to stay positive and move on from the loss.

“I try my best to be happy because thinking of the death of my parents too much might end up eating me up, so I try my best to feel okay and just move on,” he said.

SDK also announced the final funeral rites of his late mother during the interview, inviting his fans and loved ones to come and support him during this difficult time. He praised fellow Ghanaian celebrities such as Quamina MP, Sarkodie, Kwesi Arthur, Sister Afia, and Comedian Warris for their support during his father’s funeral.

SDK has previously spoken about the challenges of taking care of both parents who were seriously ill before their passing. Despite the difficult circumstances, the comedian has shown remarkable strength and resilience in coping with the loss of both parents. He hopes that by sharing his experience, he can help others going through similar situations to prioritize their own mental health and happiness.

The final funeral rites of SDK’s mother will take place on May 20th in Tema Community 2. For the most part, SDK continues to be an inspiration to many Ghanaians for his strength and resilience in the face of unimaginable heartbreak.
