Bulldogs attack, kill 8-year-old boy in Kumasi

On Sunday night, two bulldogs attacked and murdered an eight-year-old kid who was trying to feed them at his family’s home in the Kumasi suburb of Abrepo-Broni.

An eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous informed the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the police had given their approval for the discharge of the boy’s mangled body for burial on Tuesday while the inquiry into the event was ongoing.

According to the witness, the deceased’s family had suffered robberies and made the decision to bring the two bulldogs as part of the family’s protection measures against the thieves’ actions.

He said that the deceased had become the dogs’ buddy since he was the one who always fed them, and that the family had lived with the dogs for five years without any effort to attack anyone within the home.

According to the eyewitness, the deceased’s parents had left town on the tragic day and were staying at home with his brothers and their grandma.

He claimed that the deceased’s grandmother, who had rushed from the room to his rescue after hearing the deceased’s cries for help a short while earlier as he had gone to feed the animals, was also attacked by the dogs, who bit her seven times on the arm, under her breast, ribs, and thigh before stripping her naked.

He claims that the deceased’s older brother, who was supposed to be an animal expert, also attempted to save the victim but was attacked and bit on the arm.

When the older brother could take no more of the suffering and cried out for help, the eyewitness added, “neighbors came to the scene and tried to rescue the deceased, but none could go forward due to the aggressive nature of the dogs.”

As a result, they requested the Police.
When the police came, they had to first stand on the house’s fence wall before they could fire and kill one of the dogs. They then shot and killed the second dog after conducting a search.

The victim, whose dismembered corpse was lying in a pool of blood, together with his older brother and grandma, according to the eyewitness, were brought to a hospital but were pronounced dead when they arrived.

While the other two victims were being treated and released from the hospital, the deceased’s body was left at the morgue there and later released for burial.
