Buipewura Jinapo II, the paramount chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, has called for the people of Wenchi Banda community in the Bono Region to come together and work towards peace and development. Speaking at the Krubi festival held on May 7, 2023, the chief expressed disappointment over the ongoing divisions among the community and vowed to do everything in his power to bring the factions together.
The Buipewura noted that he had spoken about peace during the previous year’s festival, but his words had fallen on deaf ears as the community remained divided. He emphasized that a divided nation cannot prosper and urged all residents to put aside their differences and unite behind the Wenchi Banda chief and his elders.
Representing the Wenchimanhene, Nana Okoforobuor Atuahene Damoah Atta Gyan II, also spoke at the event and affirmed that the Wenchi Traditional Council will not tolerate any individual or group that seeks to disturb the peace in the area for personal gain. He praised the Banda community for their contributions to the growth of Wenchi and assured them of the council’s support in promoting peace and unity.
Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board and Coordinator of the Inner Cities and Zongo Development Secretariat, Lawyer Ben Abdallah Banda, who represented Vice President Dr. Bawumia, commended the Banda chief and his elders for their efforts to promote peace in the community. He stressed the importance of forgiveness and unity of purpose in achieving progress and development.
In a nutshell, the message from the Krubi festival was clear – the Wenchi Banda community must prioritize unity and peace to drive development. It is only by coming together and setting aside their differences that the community can achieve their full potential. The Buipewura, Wenchimanhene, and other leaders in the area are committed to promoting unity and will not tolerate any attempts to disrupt the peace. For the most part, the festival was a reminder of the power of unity and a call to action for the community to work towards a brighter future.
