As the race for the 2024 general elections begins to take shape, the Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Hon. Kobena Mensah Woyome, has declared his intention to run for a fourth term in office. In an interaction with the Ghana News Agency, the lawmaker highlighted his achievements and vision for the constituency, stating that South Tongu has come a long way and he is determined to continue building a better future for its people.
Mr. Woyome, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), believes that he is the best candidate to lead the party to victory in the constituency and maximize its votes in the upcoming general elections. He called on party delegates to vote massively for him in the NDC primaries on May 13, citing his record of championing developmental projects in the area.
“For the past three terms, I have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of the people of South Tongu. My focus has always been on building a better constituency, and I am committed to continuing this work when re-elected as the MP,” he said.
As a Ranking Member on Parliament’s Youth, Sports, and Culture Committee, and a member of the house’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Woyome has played a key role in shaping national policies and programs that impact the lives of Ghanaians. He has also used his position to advocate for the needs of his constituents, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
However, the MP expressed concern about attempts by some individuals to derail his positive agenda for South Tongu. He urged party faithful to reject any such efforts and support his candidacy to ensure that the constituency continues to move forward.
“We have come a long way, and we cannot afford to go back to square one. Let us work together to build a better South Tongu, one that provides opportunities for all its people,” he said.
For the most part, Mr. Woyome’s vision for South Tongu has been well-received by the people, who have witnessed the positive changes in their communities over the years. As the election season approaches, it remains to be seen whether his message of progress and development will resonate with voters across the constituency.
