Famous blogger Samuel Dortey Kumah, also referred to as Sammy Kay in the entertainment industry, is in hot water after being detained and turned over to the Ghana Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
In a statement released on November 16, 2023, the Cyber Security Authority stated that the blogger is under arrest for allegedly uploading pornographic content and utilizing photos of CSA officers without authorization.
The statement further cautioned the general public on the publication of obscene materials saying: “We wish to categorically state that the tagging of the images to this explicit material is a misrepresentation and of criminal attribution. The CSA dissociates itself from same and admonishes the general public to disregard any such potential criminal misrepresentation.”
CSA reaffirmed its commitment to carrying out its mandate and collaborating with other security sector organizations to safeguard the digital ecosystem and ensure the public’s digital safety in Ghana.
It said: “The CSA will continue to deliver on its mandate in collaboration with other security sector agencies to protect the digital ecosystem and the digital safety of Ghanaians.”
Although Sammy Kay’s message did not specifically address the photographs he uploaded, a review of his social media accounts showed that the blogger had apologized and included a picture of a guy wearing a white T-shirt that said, “National Cyber Security Awareness Programme.”
“Upon further investigation, we found out this picture above is not the same person in the video circulating yesterday on Twitter,” he said in his apology, which was posted on November 15, 2023, at 9:42 a.m.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the post we initially made and we deeply regret our actions in pairing this picture with Abena Korkor’s picture.”
A video that was sexually graphic surfaced online on Wednesday, November 15. A man was observed masturbating while nude in the aforementioned video, which went viral on Twitter. An anonymous lady could be seen also masturbating in the upper right corner of the same video, suggesting that the two people who were apart were having phone sex.
Without providing any proof, several tweeps claimed that Abena Korkor was the one who uploaded the video, referencing a threat she made after her bedroom video appeared online previously. Abena had threatened to make public the explicit movies of two people who she said had leaked her footage.
Singer, humorist, and politician Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) angrily denied that the two people were the same in the thick of the controversy and massive criticism aimed at the person depicted in a video and the “associated photograph.”
“I don’t know if he has undergone cosmetic surgery recently because the person in the viral video and my friend are two totally different people,” his post read.
