Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s spokesman, Dr. Gideon Boako, has informed Bolgatnaga Central legislator Isaac Adongo that Dr. Bawumia is willing to engage in discussion with former President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. Boako asserts that Mr. Adongo, not Dr. Bawumia, may debate his fellow members of Parliament.
Following Isaac Adongo’s assertion that Dr. Bawumia has made no contributions during his six years in power and challenging him to a discussion on the economy, Dr. Bawumia made his remarks.
Adongo claimed that the Vice President had switched from discussing the economics to preaching the praises of digitalization, whose foundation was set by the NDC administration.
He told reporters on Wednesday, June 21 in Parliament, “We created the greatest capacity data centre to guarantee that the Ghana.gov project, which was to computerise government operations, had a location for data protection and for data storage.
Dr. Bawumia, you can only dream of digitalization without this infrastructure, he said, addressing the Vice President who is out canvassing in the Greater Accra Region.
The Vice President was then challenged to a public discussion on the state of the economy by the ranking member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee.
“Since the economy has beaten you, you migrated to Yahoo and claim to be implementing digitalization. He must to outline his prior experience creating infrastructure for digitalization.
The days when Dr. Bawumia’s track record was unknown and he was given the benefit of the doubt, according to the NDC lawmaker, are long gone.
He has a record and can wake me up from sleep whenever he wants. He has the option to pick the location and the moderator. Indeed, he need just wake me up and say Bawumia says he wants to argue his perspective and his expertise of the economics and digitalization, and I would see him. He may even bring his own books as references.
He will receive a response from us for each careless and false comment he makes. He must be truthful, regardless of whether NPP decides to make him their flagbearer. The Ghanaian populace must not be taken for granted by him.
However, in response to him, Dr. Gideon Boako told media in Accra on Wednesday, June 21 that “The Minority should debate the Majority, Vice President Bawumia is going to challenge John Mahama, and he is interested in debating John Mahama and not Adongo.”
Vice President Bawumia would not debate Adongo and the Minority, therefore he should go speak with his colleagues in Parliament. He’s going to challenge John Mahama, and we want to see him square up against Vice President Bawumia. Let them both show up and discuss their respective track records in office and argue how the economy is doing; be certain, we’ll be ready for that discussion.
