Black Sherif, a rising star in the Ghanaian music industry, has become the youngest and only artist from Ghana to hit a total stream of 1 billion across all music platforms as of April 2023. With the release of three critically acclaimed albums – The Villain I Never Was, Second Sermon, and First Sermon, the 21-year-old’s music has resonated with audiences all over the world.

Known for his unique storytelling style and sound, Black Sherif’s success in such a short span of his career is attributed to his hard work and consistency in building his brand over the past year, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Industry insiders believe that his active engagement with his fans on social media and his collaboration with other musicians such as Burna Boy and Sarkodie have contributed to his success. Fans of the “Oil On My Head” star have taken to social media to congratulate him on the novel feat, describing him as an inspiration and G.O.A.T of music.

Black Sherif’s achievement is not the first time he has received awards for his music streams. His debut album, Villain I Never Was, surpassed 70 million streams on Audiomack in less than 24 hours. He was also honoured by Boomplay when he earned the 100 million Golden mark on the platform in 2022.

Black Sherif, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, is signed by the American distribution company and record label EMPIRE. As he awaits the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, where he is nominated for Artiste of the Year, his success in the music industry is proof that his unique style and talent have set him apart from other musicians in Ghana.
