The match started brightly for the Queens, with Gifty Assifuah scoring the opening goal in just the 2nd minute after pouncing on a rebound from an Evelyn Badu freekick. Six minutes later, Grace Asantewaa doubled the lead with a sublime solo goal, weaving through the defense of the opponents and scoring from the edge of the penalty box.

Despite some good chances for Senegal, Ghana goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan was on hand to deny them in the 30th minute. Assifuah grabbed her second goal of the game just before halftime, giving Ghana a comfortable three-goal advantage going into the break.

The second half saw substitutions from both sides, but the tempo of the game remained unchanged as the Queens continued to press for more goals. Senegal had a good chance to get a consolation goal, but Cynthia Fiindib was once again called to duty and pulled off a great save to keep a clean sheet.

The game ended 3-0 in favor of the Black Queens, who will host Senegal in a second encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. The match will be an opportunity for both teams to continue to prepare for future assignments.
