On September 10, 2023, Barbara Knight, a lifelong resident of Maple Rapids, passed away at the age of 79. After graduating from Utica High School, Barbara Meinke was raised in Utica, Michigan, by her parents, Richard and Isabelle Meinke.
She became one of the youngest First Ladies after meeting and marrying Florida Governor-elect Fuller Warren. She was involved in the Miami Children’s Hospital and later held the position of President in addition to her formal responsibilities. Next to Gov.
After Warren’s passing, she returned to Los Angeles. She wed Ohioan William Richardson in 1962, the CEO of B.F. Goodrich, who tragically died 10 days after their wedding. She wed John Richardson in 1966, and he went on to become President of Hughes Aircraft.

Barbara passed away on May 26, 2012, quietly at home. She is a native of Los Angeles and attended Dorsey High School, where she was a part of the well-known “Glamourettes” club.
She spent several years in the Civil Air Patrol and worked as a legal secretary during World War II.
