The Ghana National Gas Company Limited has announced the completion of maintenance works on the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant. The company made this announcement in a press release issued on April 7, 2023, and signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Ernest Kofi Owusu-Bempah Bonsu.

According to the release, the maintenance activities ended on Wednesday, April 5, ahead of schedule, and the plant is currently operating at a flow rate of 90 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).

The maintenance works began on March 25, 2023, which caused a temporary shutdown of the gas processing plant, resulting in a shortage of gas supply to some power plants and causing power outages in parts of the country. This led to the Electricity Company Limited releasing a load-shedding timetable between 6:00 pm and 11:00 pm from March 30 to April 7, 2023.

However, with the completion of the maintenance works, the load-shedding timetable is expected to come to an end, bringing relief to Ghanaians who have had to endure power outages for the past few days.

The Management of Ghana Gas has expressed its gratitude to the general public for their patience and cooperation during the maintenance period, and it is expected that the gas processing plant will continue to provide reliable and uninterrupted gas supply to power plants and industries across the country.
