The Atta Mills Institute will not participate in events to commemorate the 11th death anniversary of late former President John Evans Atta Mills, according to Samuel Koku Anyidoho, the organization’s founder.
The news was revealed on Twitter by the former Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He did not give an explanation for the choice, but it is assumed that it has something to do with the consequences of 2021, the year of Atta Mills’ death’s tenth anniversary.
The family of the late former president vowed to sue to halt the institute’s activities.
Dr. Cadman Mills, his older brother, remarked that the Institute has been utilized to foment disputes and disagreements that run counter to the principles of the late President John Mills.
As a result, Mr. Anyidoho suggested renaming the institute, but he subsequently changed his mind after visiting the Asomdwee Park with the Odomna family from Atta Mills’ maternal side at Ekumfi Otuam.
