Asante Kotoko CEO begs fans for forgiveness as club struggles to retain league title

Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, has issued a plea to the fans of the club for forgiveness following their disappointing performances this season. The Porcupine Warriors have been struggling to find their feet this season, leading to the sacking of coach Seydou Zerbo. The team won the Ghana Premier League title last season under the leadership of Prosper Narteh Ogum, but they now trail Aduana Stars by eight points with just four games to go in the ongoing season.

Amponsah has acknowledged the team’s failure to meet expectations, having suffered eliminations from both the CAF Champions League and the FA Cup as well. He thanked the fans for their support thus far and apologized for the disappointment this season has brought them.

“For the most part, we need their support because a friend in need is a friend indeed. We will plead with them to have patience with us and the players. It is painful,” Amponsah said in an interview with Oyerepa FM.

Asante Kotoko currently sits in sixth place with 44 points after 30 games and have failed to win any of their last three matches in the competition. With just four matches remaining, their chances of retaining the Ghana Premier League title appear slim.

In their next fixture, they will face Kotoku Royals at Dawu Park. Despite the team’s struggles, Amponsah has urged fans to continue supporting the club. He expressed gratitude for the fans’ continued support and said the team would work to regain their confidence.

In a nutshell, Amponsah’s plea to Kotoko fans is a reminder that the team is going through a tough period, and they need the fans’ support more than ever. While the team’s chances of retaining the Ghana Premier League title appear slim, they still have a lot to play for and will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches.
