Market women in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region have expressed their disappointment in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for neglecting them since they came to power.

The women, who are mainly into trading, regret joining the elephant fraternity because all the promises made to them during the campaign season have not been fulfilled. The women said one of the promises they depended on was the renovation of the deplorable Komenda Market. They explained that the market had not been attended to for over seven years and had become a death trap.

According to the group of market women, the NPP has neglected them, and the party has reneged on its promise to renovate the market. They lamented the attitude of the KEEA Municipal Chief Executive, Solomon Appiah, whenever the issue about the market renovation is raised. They have therefore called on the 2020 running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, to support them in renovating the market.

The market women expressed their support for Prof Opoku-Agyeman and the NDC. They expressed their displeasure about the governing party when workmen assigned from the office of Prof Opoku-Agyeman cemented the market area for them.

This is a clear indication that the market women are seeking support from the opposition party. The KEEA Municipal Chief Executive should address their concerns and ensure the promises made during the campaign are fulfilled. The market women are an important part of the community, and their concerns should be taken seriously.
