The Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions of Ghana are renowned for producing some of the most outstanding football stars in the country. Therefore, the Business Africa Consulting (BAC) Group and the Bono-Ahafo Regional Football Association (BARFA) have come together to organize the 2023 All Stars Football Festival to recognize and honor the past and present football stars, administrators, and investors from the three regions.

During the launch of the festival in Sunyani, Mr. Ralph Gyambrah, the BARFA Chairman, urged the media to showcase the regions’ contributions to football development in Ghana. He noted that the three regions have produced more football stars, administrators, and investors than any other region in Ghana. For example, the Bono Region is the birthplace of some of Ghana’s legendary footballers, including the top scorers in Ghana’s football history, Kwasi Owusu and Asamoah-Gyan, and the longest-serving senior national football team, the Black Stars captains.

Dr. Ernest Koranteng, the CEO of BAC Group, explained that the festival aims to celebrate the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions’ contributions to Ghana football over the years. He highlighted some of the legends who must be celebrated, such as late Kwasi Owusu, Akwasi Appiah, Asamoah-Gyan, Dan Owusu, and Alex Opoku.

The festival is packed with exciting activities such as an all-star festival float in the Ahafo Region, a gala night in Sunyani to honor the legends who have contributed significantly to the success of the football industry, and a durbar in honor of the Black Stars at Dormaa-Ahenkro. Additionally, there will be conferences on club football businesses, a special curtain-raiser football match at the Coronation Park in Sunyani, and the all-star football match to climax the festival at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa-Ahenkro.

The organizers have appealed to the Ghana Football Association and the government to construct a standard sport stadium and a standard football academy in the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions to honor the enormous contribution to Ghana’s football development.

For the most part, the festival aims to celebrate and recognize the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions’ rich football history and the significant contributions of its football stars, administrators, and investors to the success of Ghana’s football industry. The festival will also promote unity and development in the regions and Ghana as a whole.
