Akufo-Addo, Ofori-Atta, Prof Niglas, others to speak at 75th New Year School

The prestigious Annual New Year School and Conference (ANYSC) 2024 is scheduled for Tuesday, January 9, 2024, through Thursday, January 11, 2024, and is organized by the School of Continuing and Distance Education, College of Education, University of Ghana, in collaboration with various partners and institutions.

The ANYSC will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2024, with the major topic “Nurturing Resilience: Adopting Technology and Embracing Humanism for Sustainable Development” at the University of Ghana (UG), Legon.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the program’s main guest of honor, is slated to inaugurate the 75th New Year School.

The keynote lecture will be delivered by Professor Katrin Niglas, Vice-Rector for Research at Tallinn University in Estonia, during the inauguration of the school and conference at the Great Hall, UG.

The meeting will be chaired by Mary Chinery-Hesse, Chancellor of the University of Ghana; hosted by Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor; and collaborated by Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitalization.

The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta; the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum; and the Executive Director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Emmanuel Akwetey, among others, are set to speak at the school.

ANYSC is an annual gathering of academics, politicians, business executives, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to debate crucial issues impacting the African continent and Ghana in particular.

This year’s topic will be arranged around the following sub-themes: developing resilience, adapting to utilize technology, and promoting human values and dignity to advance Ghana’s final growth and progress.

Nurturing resilience and leveraging on technology to achieve sustainable growth

Promoting education for sustainable development.

Towards the attainment of a digital economy: Global Perspectives.

New local government system, election 2024, security and peacebuilding.

The deliberations at the Conference will be documented and presented to the appropriate authorities for policy interventions.
