Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign spokesperson Yaw Buaben Asamoa claims that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has backed him for the position of flagbearer.
The team is unconcerned with the Special Electoral College’s findings that the general public would choose Mr. Kyerematen as flagbearer on November 4, the former Adentan Member of Parliament (MP) said.
“Nana Addo endorsed Bawumia a long time ago and everyone knows it. We all know he’s supporting him. He is the establishment candidate,” he said on Accra-based UTV.
He believes that Mr. Kyerematen’s continual vote reduction is an effort by the party’s leadership to deny him the presidency.
After casting his ballot in the elections on Saturday, President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed that he had not backed any candidates.
He simply pleaded with delegates to choose a flagbearer who can assist the party in breaking the eight and putting Ghana back on track.
