Ghanaian journalists covering the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire argued with Ghana national team players and officials following their draw with Mozambique, leaving the team facing yet another group stage exit in the competition.
The Black Stars scored two late goals in Abidjan on Monday evening to tie 2-2 with the Southern African country, despite holding a two-goal lead after the 90th minute.
Ghana now sits third in Group B, with only two points from three games, and will require a miracle to get to the round of 16.
Following the game, journalists sought to do interviews with players and officials in the mixed zone, but were turned down, resulting in tension and shouting clashes.
CAF security authorities had to be called in to intercede.
In a video shared to the social networking site ‘X’ by journalist Saddick Adams, some Ghanaian journalists can be seen shouting abuses at the players and the coach, while another video obtained by Joy Sports shows defender Mohammed Salisu in a heated altercation with another journalist.
