Ablekuma West MP Ursula Owusu-Ekuful Criticized for Neglecting Constituents, Aspiring Candidate Kobby Mensah Vows to Unseat Her

Kobby Mensah, an aspiring parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ablekuma West constituency, has declared that he is the only candidate capable of unseating the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful. With the NDC set to hold internal elections on May 13, 2023, Mensah is intensifying his campaign and making bold promises to win over delegates.

Speaking on the Burning Issues programme, Mensah asserted that he is the favored candidate who can help the NDC win the Ablekuma seat in the 2024 general election. He criticized Owusu-Ekuful for neglecting her constituents, only visiting during election periods to distribute clothes and items to the fishing community to lure their votes.

Mensah believes that the NDC needs a candidate with qualities that can match the incumbent MP to snatch the seat from her, and he possesses those qualities. He has promised to prioritize the welfare of the constituents and work tirelessly to ensure their development. Mensah also aims to provide employment opportunities for the youth in the area, improve healthcare facilities, and support the education sector.

The Ablekuma West constituency has been a stronghold for the NPP in recent years, with Owusu-Ekuful winning the seat in the last two general elections. However, Mensah is confident that he can turn the tables in the upcoming election by engaging the electorate and providing solutions to the challenges facing the constituency.

For the most part, the NDC internal elections are expected to be keenly contested, with candidates making various promises to win over delegates. However, it remains to be seen if Mensah’s strategy and promises will be enough to secure him the ticket to contest in the general election. With the NPP determined to retain the seat, the 2024 parliamentary elections in the Ablekuma West constituency promise to be an exciting and closely contested race.
