Sam Pee Yalley, a former ambassador to India, has characterised President Nana Akufo-Addo as a serious threat to the safety and existence of the nation.
The former ambassador made this claim in an interview with TVXYZ on May 2, 2023, citing the president’s character traits and careless policies as justification.
He asserts that President Akufo-Addo regularly creates a “us and them” mindset among Ghanaians by dividing them along political lines. He sees this as a possible cause of strife that the nation cannot afford.
“Nana Akufo-Addo poses the greatest threat to our security. Nana Akufo-Addo poses the greatest threat to the survival of our nation. Because of his personality traits, you can tell when your president uses the phrase “us and them” that he or she continually separates the country into the NPP and the NDC.
“…it is one factor that may contribute to the issue we are now attempting to solve. The president is presenting initiatives that don’t wait and ask for our opinions collectively. They always do what they want, no matter what. Since voting is, as of the last time I looked, one of the foundations of democracy, they might even send military to kill innocent Ghanaians who were going to vote, he remarked.
He charged the president with enacting laws without consulting the public.
Sam Pee Yalley also made note of the fact that many graduates remained jobless for years, which frustrated young people.
In order to avert future conflict and guarantee the long-term stability of the nation, he urged the administration to reevaluate its stance on policy and how it approaches governance.
“This government has conducted some extremely rash programmes, and for that reason I believe that Akufo Addo’s administration poses a serious threat to national security. For example, you are currently implementing a policy that forbids hiring any young people for the course of the plan. Since completing Legon, your son has spent the previous three years at home. Is it not annoying that his sister finishes “Cape Vars” and returns home, that his third brother is ready to graduate TECH, and that they are all returning home at the same time? Additionally, he said.
