Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairperson of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has received an apology from Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Local Government Services in the Office of the President, for a video he uploaded earlier about him.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) member said in a tweet that he had incorrectly uploaded a video of the NDC Chairman allegedly urging his supporters to give their lives in support of the general elections in 2024.
Wonders Aboagye then changed his mind and offered an apology to the NDC leadership.
I truly apologise and have since taken down the Asiedu Nketia video I previously shared. My focus has been attracted to an original video that unequivocally demonstrates how altered the one I previously saw and posted was. This version I saw and shared had obviously been altered, and that is wrong. I apologise and withdraw as a result, he remarked in a tweet.
After remarks made by Bryan Acheampong, the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, that he and the NPP will never cede political power to the NDC, the NPP member had released the earlier video.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, a pillar of the NDC, was heard urging his supporters to “give everything, including lives” in a prior video that he released, but in reality, he was urging them to “sacrifice everything, including our lives” for their campaign.
After Bryan Acheampong made these remarks, some NPP members came to his defence, with many claiming that his remarks were just a retort to similarly aggressive ones from the NDC side.
In response to Bryan Acheampong’s remarks, a number of NDC members have stated that they are also prepared to counteract any violence the NPP wants to use in the run-up to the general elections in 2024.
