While Easter is being celebrated, it is preferable to refrain from sexual activity during this time.

Sex serves as a hindrance to the growth in Christ during the Lenten season for those who have the legal right to make love, such as Christian married couples.

The focus should be on Easter, one of the most significant events in Christian history, rather than any form of physical pleasure.

The counsel was offered by Rev. Father Amos Asiedu of the All Souls Anglican Church of the Anglican Dioceses of Kumasi during a live radio discussion of the significance of Easter.

The focus of a Believer during Lent should be on the blood of Jesus and activities that bring one closer to God, not on carnal pleasures like sex. But, having sex with a spouse is not a sin.

“We advise married couples to converse with one another and explain the necessity for the two of them to refrain from having sex at this period. To avoid being disturbed by sex from your spouse during your fast, I mean you need to ask their consent first.

Even having sex during this time affects your relationship with God, which is why Jesus went off to fast in the wilderness. We should follow his example and refrain from causing any destruction. Jesus exhorted Believers to stay focused and resist being influenced by things of this world.

Christians must always remember that the blood of Jesus and its role in salvation is the cause for the season.
