An unfortunate turn of events resulted in the death of a 60-year-old man in Daboya during a police raid intended to apprehend suspects in the recent property dispute at Lukula in the North Gonja District of the Savannah Region.
Yussifu, the dead person whose identity has been confirmed, reportedly had hypertension for some time.
The dead smashed to death after learning that police had invaded the town to capture them, according to a relative of the deceased who gave his name as Sualim in an interview.
He said that the young guys in the home had all already gone to seek cover in the bushes, leaving the dead, who was on his way to the mosque, to face his fate.
He said, “This morning at dawn, the dead who was on his way to the mosque heard his son yelling and telling his brothers to evacuate because police had encircled the town for a raid and the deceased out of strain, collapsed to the ground.
However, he was left alone to fight for his life because all the young guys had already gone, he said. Later, a doctor who had been summoned to check on him declared him dead following an examination.
Sualim claimed that the deceased’s death had traumatised the entire family and he demanded that the subject be looked into right now.
In the Daboya township, the man’s death has sent tongues wagging, and some people are worried that it may lead to retaliation.
