After the suspect’s arrest, Alhaji Adam Sayibu Asuro, the Yendi Municipal Manager of the Ghana Water Company Limited, informed the media and stated that they had learned that the suspect, Abdul-Rauf Sadiq, had stolen some of their business’s property.

He claimed that as soon as they noticed the materials, the suspect fled from his room. With the assistance of bystanders, the Company Field Workers were able to catch him and deliver him to the Yendi Municipal Police headquarters.

According to Alhaji Adam, they began receiving complaints from their clients that their metres and fittings had been taken over time in the Yendi suburbs of Sikafo, Nurses Quarters, and Junior Staff Quarters (JSQ), among other places.

He claimed that they informed the Overlord of Dagbon Ya-Na Abukari II and Alhaji Hammed AbubakariYussif, the Chief Executive of the Municipality of Yendi and Chairman of the Yendi Municipal Security Council, about the theft incidents.

He stated that the suspect Abdul-Rauf Sadiq appeared before the Yendi Circuit Court on April 6, 2023, was remanded into the custody of the Yendi Police, and was scheduled to appear again on April 19, 2023.

As the suspect claimed to sell the metres and fittings to scrap dealers in Yendi, he urged the company’s 1,700+ clients to be cautious with their metres and fittings.

In order to stop the theft of goods in the community, he urged the general people to provide information to the company’s employees.
