GJA President donates to two orphanage homes

Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has donated things worth over GH80,000 to two orphanage homes.

The Faith Needy Children’s Home in Awutu Bewuanum and the Countryside Children’s Welfare Home in Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region are the beneficiaries.

Boxes of Lufart antimalarials, cough syrup, paracetamol syrups, disinfectants, bathing soaps, toothpaste, and floor cleaners were among the supplies.

Boxes of milk, washing powder, detergents, toiletries, sachets of water, gallons of cooking oil, beverages, bags of sugar, sanitary pads, rice, gari, maize, beans, tomato paste, and other things are also available.

In addition to the things, the GJA President awarded the two families with GH5,000 and GH6,200, respectively, to cover additional bills including as water and electricity.

Mr Dwumfour also personally distributed prepared meals and soft drinks to the youngsters of the two orphanage homes in order to make their New Year’s Eve memorable.

The GJA President noted that his compassionate deed was in response to a scriptural requirement that encourages Christians to offer love and joy, especially to those in need, during the Christmas season.

“We know that Christmas is a season of love because Christmas is a season of remembrance of the Saviour Jesus Christ. It (Christmas) is a time and period of the season where we all dine with families, and loved ones and also share whatever we have, put smiles on the faces of others,” he said.

Representatives from the recipient households expressed their eternal gratitude to the GJA President for the contribution and wished God’s blessings on his life.

The GJA President was accompanied by various Association executives as well as notable media professionals such as Kobby Asmah, former Editor of the Daily Graphic and Member of the National Media Commission, and Gabriel Bosompem, former General Manager of Media General and member of the National Media Commission.
